The 2019 Barolo Monvigliero is beautiful. Soft, silky and caressing, the 2019 captures all the personality of this site in a mid-weight style that is quite attractive. Sweet tobacco, cedar, earthiness, licorice and dried herbs lend a gorgeous savory dimension. The 2019 Barolo Monvigliero (in a non-Riserva version) is a new wine in the range made from purchased fruit that Castello di Verduno is making to address a drop of production from their own vineyards during a phase of replanting. It should drink well with minimal cellaring.
