Critic Reviews
Jane Anson
93 Points
93 Points, Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux: "Well structured, fairly tight in its fruit structure, dark bilberries and slate, orange peel, one of the wines that need time to unroll and open. The fresh acidities are liliting and will soften further over ageing. Marc Perrin now working with his father Eric and uncle Philibert. Yield 28hl/ha, 3.63 pH. Harvest September 4 to 24. 20% new oak." 04/26
James Suckling
95-96 Points
95-96 Points, James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com: "A very bright wine with beautiful balance and freshness. Violets, raspberries and currants on the nose and palate. Medium-bodied with clarity and fine, integrated tannins. Hints of flint and graphite at the end. One of the best Carbonnieux in a long time. 45% merlot, 45% cabernet sauvignon, 5% cabernet franc and 5% petit verdot." 04/26
Jeb Dunnuck
92-94 Points
92-94 Points, Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com: "Ripe cherries, red plums, candied violets, and graphite, as well as some spicy wood, all emerge from the 2025 Château Carbonnieux, another beautiful Pessac-Léognan. On the palate, it's medium-bodied and nicely concentrated, with ripe, firmer tannins and outstanding length. I think it's a beautiful wine that should easily be outstanding." 05/26
Antonio Galloni
92-94 Points
92-94 Points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous: "The 2025 Carbonnieux packs a pretty substantial punch. Dark-toned fruit, gravel, incense, licorice, dried herbs, menthol and espresso infuse the palate with tremendous depth. The tannins are quite broad and chocolatey, but they are very nicely balanced." 04/26
Wine Advocate
92-94 Points
92-94 Points, Yohan Castaing, Robert Parker's Wine Advcoate: "The 2025 Carbonnieux is a fine success, wafting from the glass with aromas of dark berries, cassis and flowers, accented by delicate spice. Medium- to full-bodied, dense, layered and well balanced, it is built around a core of fruit with good depth and framed by velvety, precise tannins, concluding with a long, perfumed and ethereal finish. This is a compelling value." 04/26
Decanter
92 Points
92 Points, Panos Kakakiatos, Decanter: "Aromas of tobacco leaf, blueberry, and oak–derived spice, presage a rather structured wine with tannins reinforced by the lively acidity of the vintage: a firm, slightly angular profile at this stage, where the fruit feels somewhat restrained. Paradoxically, this same framework brings freshness that reveals palate depth. The finish carries a mineral, gently saline edge, suggesting versatility at the table. While it may currently lack enough expressive fruit, the balance of structure and freshness points to a wine that could integrate nicely with barrel ageing (20% new oak)." 03/26
