Critic Reviews
Jeb Dunnuck
96 Points
96 Points, Audrey Frick, JebDunnuck.com: "The 2022 Barolo Francia was bottled in May of 2025 and will not be released until Fall 2026. It pours a uniform ruby color and opens with pure aromas of raspberries, cranberries, bright spice, tangerine peel, clove, and dusty earth. Medium-bodied, it shows impressive balance for this warm vintage, avoiding any sense of heaviness while maintaining clarity and freshness. The tannins are refined and well-integrated, and the wine moves across the palate with ease, finishing long and precise. While approachable in its youth, it retains the structure expected from this site. Drink 2026-2040." 04/26
Antonio Galloni
95+ Points
95+ Points, Antonio Galloni, Antonio Galloni: "The 2022 Barolo Francia is a total stunner. Rich, deep, layered and super expressive, the 2022 graces the palate with dark red cherry fruit, spice, rose petal, chalk, mint, blood orange and dried herbs. Bright acids and clean veins of minerality lend bracing energy throughout. Leave it to Roberto Conterno and his team to make one of the most compelling wines of the vintage." 01/26
Wine Advocate
96+ Points
96+ Points, Monica Larner, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Giacomo Conterno 2022 Barolo Francia is defined by its mineral precision and beautifully linear sense of proportion. Bright cherry and redcurrant are framed by crushed stone and delicate floral notes, giving the wine a lifted, focused personality, despite the warmth of the vintage. The palate shows medium- to full-bodied richness, yet there is an inner energy and precision that keep the wine remarkably balanced. Fine, chalky tannins complete a Barolo of understated elegance." 07/26
James Suckling
98 Points
98 Points, Aldo Fiordelli, JamesSuckling.com: "Restrained and perfumed, showing bright licorice root, wild strawberries, watermelon and fresh violets. Full-bodied yet not exuberant, this subtle, elegant Barolo has firm, fine-grained and condensed tannins with persistent acidity and a savory, sanguine finish. October 2026 release. Almost drinkable now yet intended for long aging." 01/26
