Guidalberto is from the producers of the legendary Sassicaia. Grapes are harvested and transported to an independent cellar. Fermentation takes place separately for each variety in temperature-controlled steel vats before undergoing maceration. The wine is aged in French and American oak barrels and refined in bottle before release.

James Suckling
96 Points
96 Points, James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com: "This vintage shows a remarkable aromatic profile of Mediterranean herbs, cassis, black cherries, leather and earth with a kind of gamey depth. Full-bodied, it shows velvety, slightly sandy tannins with a firm structure, refreshing integrated acidity and a savory cedar finish. Drinkable now, but best in one or two years..." 03/27/25

92-94 Points, Audrey Frick, JebDunnuck.com: "The 2023 Guidalberto was tasted as a preview and was a preliminary blend of barrel samples prepared for this tasting by the winery team, led by Carlo Paoli. The second sample that was blended was pure and ripe, with detailed layers of youthful cherry liqueur, fresh herbs, and lavender perfume. The palate offers medium to full-bodied richness, with a supple and primary feel, though it starts to reveal its underlying refined structure. While this was an early preliminary look at what the wine could look like, I’m looking forward to next year’s tasting to see how it develops..." 03/18/25

96 Points, James Button, Decanter.com (initial tasting March '25 w/ follow up notes June '25): "2023 was a very good year for the Cabernets, according to Priscilla Incisa della Rocchetta, who added that a very hot start to August made it more difficult for early-ripening Merlot. As a result, Merlot has been reduced in the blend from 60% to 45%. The rich and glossy red berry, blackberry and black cherry fruit is nicely layered with balsamic herbs, damp earth and lovely mid-palate sapidity, with a creamy undertow which leads to a finish of dark chocolate and bitter herbs. Intense but not overtly concentrated, fresh and poised, there's much to love here – although it will require at least another six months to pull together harmoniously...Super-fresh with balsamic herb, blueberry and floral aromatics, Guidalberto 2023 has blossomed into a grand vin all of its own. Invigorating cool forest berry flavours mingle with touches of spice and fine, silky tannins. So poised. Wow!"

“The 2023 Guidalberto is another terrific wine from Tenuta San Guido in this vintage. Aromatic, medium in body and gracious, the 2023 is pure charm. Crushed flowers, bright red-toned fruit, spice and blood orange all pulse through a vibrant, refreshing Guidalberto that will drink well on release. The more refined side of Bolgheri is very much on display. This is a fine effort in a year marked by heavy rains and elevated disease pressure. What a delight….” 02/25
International Wine Review
94 Points
94 Points, Joe D'Angelo, International Wine REport: "The 2023 Guidalberto displays wonderful finesse and class as it opens to aromas of dark cherries and black currants, which are woven together with florals, herbs and exotic spices that all take shape. On the palate this is medium-bodied and beautifully balanced with excellent overall focus and precision. It continues to impress with its sleek texture that leads into a finish that lingers beautifully. The blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot is already appealing now, yet there also looks to be a lovely future ahead..." 02/25
