Critic Reviews
James Suckling
94 Points
94 Points, James Suckling, James Suckling.com: "Dried-strawberry and black-cherry aromas with hints of dried cherries and orange blossom. It’s full-bodied with round, integrated and fine tannins. Tight and reserved on the finish. Drink after 2023." 11/20
Neal Martin
95 Points
95 Points, Neal Martin, Vinous: "The 2020 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru, which contains around 40% whole bunch, is very well-defined on the nose with brambly red fruit, wilted rose and iris petals, hints of undergrowth, thyme and rosemary emerging with time. The palate is well balanced, sporting a very subtle garrigue-like element that becomes accentuated both on the nose and palate with time. Tender on the finish. Superb." 03/22
Jasper Morris
93-95 Points
93-95 Points, Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy: "40% whole bunch vinification for this cuvée. Glowing purple, not too deep, richly plummy, but very harmonious, sweet ripe raspberry with cherry and floral top notes, a gorgeous of Amoureuses with some persistence. Amoureuses so often seems so accessible in youth, but this will also keep very well." 11/21
Wine Advocate
94-96 Points
94-96 Points, William Kelley, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The brilliant 2020 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses wafts from the glass with thrilling aromas of raspberries, bergamot, warm spices, rose petals and peonies. Medium to full-bodied, lively and seamless, it's elegant and fine-boned, with a long, intensely perfumed finish. It's the most ethereal wine in the range this year." 01/22
John Gilman
97 Points
97 Points, John Gilman, View from the Cellar: "Maison Drouhin’s les Amoureuses is always one of the finest bottlings to be found in the Côte d’Or, and the 2020 version is going to be another cellar treasure in due course. The bouquet is deep and stunning, with a touch of red fruity elements creeping into its bouquet of red and black cherries, gamebird, a beautifully complex base of soil tones, woodsmoke, gamebird, balsam bough and a refined foundation of nutty new oak. On the palate the wine is deep, pure, full-bodied and very refined in profile, with a sappy core, lovely soil undertow, fine-grained tannins and excellent focus and balance on the long, pure and vibrant finish. All this beauty needs is plenty of bottle age. 2035-2095." Issue#96 11/21
