This wine has intensely strong red reflections with violet tones. The nose exudes red and black fruit aromas (blackberry, blackcurrant, cherry) with subtle oaky notes and present tannins that give a perfectly coated mouthfeel. A beautiful expression of the vintage. Château Montlandrie is a truly exceptional value from the Côtes de Castillon satellite right bank appellation. It is crafted by legendary winemaker Denis Durantou who is highly regarded as a visionary and trailblazer.

Critic Reviews

James Suckling
93 Points
93 Points, James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com: "Plenty of clarity and freshness in this one, with raspberries, light toast, chocolate and dried flowers. Medium body. Salty. Crunchy and lightly chewy, with limestone firmness. 75% merlot, 20% cabernet franc and 5% cabernet sauvignon. Drink or hold." 04/24
Neal Martin

91 Points, Neal Martin, Vinous: "The 2021 Montlandrie initially shows just a touch of reduction on the nose, but it gradually opens in the glass to reveal that mélange of red and black fruit, hints of licorice and pain d’épices, quite complex though not intense. The palate is medium-bodied with edgy tannins. This has a fine line of acidity, nicely poised, very fresh and saline toward the finish with a dash of black pepper on the aftertaste. This has meliorated a little during its élevage, and it should drink well for 12 to 15 years. (Drink between 2028-2038)" 02/24
Decanter

92 Points, Georgina Hindle, Decanter: "Textured, nicely direct and well defined in the mouth. This has an instant appeal with bright, shiny and concentrated strawberry and red cherry fruit with a sleek frame, high acidity and freshness on the finish. It's not weighty, it's gentle but still carrying tons of flavour. A solid effort where they got ripeness and didn't overdo the extraction or oak. Very charming and appealing still with bite, touches of spice and oak giving it good ageing potential. (Drink between 2025-2038)" 12/23
