Critic Reviews

Wine Spectator
93 Points
93 Points, Tim Fish, Wine Spectator (WS #27 wine of 2018): "Seamless and silky, showing an almost effortless sense of complexity, with notes of lemon and pear paired with toasty brioche, fresh ginger and hazelnut details. Drink now. 80,000 cases made." 7/18
Decanter
94 Points
94 Points, Jonathan Cristaldi, Decanter: "Always a solid wine from Anderson Valley, this NV is built of 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir and offers pretty lemony and lemon oil notes atop a bed of fragrant white flowers. Very round and complete with an assertive mousse, just-baked bread, and bruised yellow apple fruit. This bubbly has excellent depth and a terrific mineral finish. Aged a minimum of two years on the yeast, clocking in at 10 g/L. 85,000 9-litre cases produced." 03/23
Jeb Dunnuck
94 Points
94 Points, Audrey Frick, JebDunnuck.com: "Impressive from first sip, the MV Brut, made from 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir, with 10 to 15% reserve wine, opens in a world of buttered toasty notes, spicy pear, and hazelnut. The oak and fruit shine amidst a backdrop of refreshing acidity speckled in green apple and Meyer lemon. Elegant in style, this medium-bodied Brut has an underlying thread of razor-edged acidity and great length that should keep it fresh and rewarding over the next 8-10 years. Dosage is 10 grams per liter.Champagne Louis Roederer started planting grapes in the Anderson Valley in 1982, when California sparkling wine wasn’t yet a thing. Over time, this Philo-based outpost and production facility known as Roederer Estate has become entirely estate-grown, now farming 600 acres of organically and biodynamically farmed vines in the area, which estate winemaker Arnaud Weyrich says has higher acidity on average than Champagne. The winery’s signature style is to add oak-aged reserve wines to each year’s cuvée. (Drink between 2025-2035)" 02/25
James Suckling
93 Points
93 Points, James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com: " Aromas of pie crust with hints of nuts and cooked apple. Some butter cookie. Medium to full body with notes of seashell, cooked apple and lemon rind. Chunky at the end. A base of 2019. A blend of 60% chardonnay and 40% pinot noir. Two years on the lees. 7.5g/L dosage. Drink or hold." 11/23
Wine Enthusiast
93 Points
93 Points, Jim Gordon, Wine Enthusiast: "This is an assertive, flavorful and robust wine, with a medium to full body, a mouthfilling texture and fine-beaded bubbles. A creamy viscosity and wonderful layers of butter, apple, vanilla and ginger make for a delicious palate."
