Syrah
Along with Pinot Noir, Syrah (or Shiraz in Australia) is one of the most site-influenced varietals in the world, capable of transferring place into your glass unlike almost any other grape. It's also a bit of a chameleon depending upon where its grown, capturing the leather and dark meat notes of a cold weather climate like in the Rhône valley, but also able to develop lush and spicy notes on the palate when grown in warmer climes like California and Australia, making it a staff favorite at Zachys.
