Petit Verdot

Once relegated to the background as a blending grape for Bordeaux, Petit Verdot is starting to take center stage in single-varietal wines from California to Australia. While Zachys appreciates the structure this high tannin grape gives to our favorite Boredeaux blends, we love seeking out new finds from the warmer climates where Petit Verdot thrives. It's tricky to ripen, but this small grape can pack a bold, black-cherry-filled punch when it has time to fully develop.
