Zachys’ love affair with Italian wines was sparked by a bottle of 20-year old bottle of Barolo from Piedmont. The wine was remarkably fresh, yet was showing so much more of the rose and tar that I love than a younger vintage. All we can say is the Barolo is as much of an experience as it is a fine wine, and decades later, it continues to show us why it’s one of the world’s greatest wine regions.
