Zachys Notes

94+ Points, Zachys Buying Team: "Tasted during Bordeaux En Primeur 2015 trip. Of the 300+ wines tasted on the trip, this was among one of the most memorable Pomerol wines in that it delivers the signature richness and silky texture, but there is an underlying complexity to the wine with its structure and secondary note development. There is awesome fruit concentration here, plenty of blue fruit notes here, along with nuances of macerated black cherry rind, violets, mocha, crème de cassis, coffee beans, black truffle, and some herbaceous undertones. Now this is the underdog, overachieving wine that will get you excited about Pomerol without the forbidding price tag. What a great under the radar discovery that is a reminder as to why the 2006s need to be retasted."

Robert Parker Notes

"92 Points, Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate: ""Chocolate, espresso roast, plum, fig, and black currant aromas are followed by a dense, rich, full-bodied Pomerol displaying superb purity, elegance, and noticeable but ripe tannin. There is not an astringent element to be found in this savory, layered, opulent 2006. It is ideal for drinking over the next 12-15+ years."" 2/09"

Wine Advocate Notes

"92 Points, Neal Martin, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: ""Tasted at Bordeaux Index's annual 10-Year On tasting in London and then at the château, the 2006 Clos l'Eglise has an attractive, quite opulent bouquet with blueberry and crème de cassis aromas tinged with black truffle and violets. The palate is medium-bodied with supple ripe tannin, good acidity, grippy in the mouth and substantial weight on the finish. If it can evolve more finesse on the finish, this will be a very satisfying Pomerol, so afford it another 3-4 years in bottle. Tasted March 2016."" 3/16"
