This is a California classic, in 2015 the wine clocks in at 14.3% alcohol - mind you, that is less than most Napa cults, and certainly less that many icons from the Right Bank of Bordeaux, Rhone Valley, Priorat, Ribera del Duero and Super Tuscans. With its generous fruit and soft tannins, there is no denying this is an approachable wine offering immediate enjoyment - beyond the expressive nose there is explosive red and black fruit on the palate. We are talking juicy fruit with nuances of macerated cherry rinds, blackberries, plums, toasty oak, sandalwood, spice, with just a ting of dried herbs and tobacco. With the 2015, we find the wine is a little leaner and that it finishes dry and firm, begging for that signature steakhouse steak."
