91 Points; Neal Martin; Wine Advocate: "The 2013 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Jeunes Rois has a strict; slightly leafy bouquet with quite broody; dark berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied and linear in style; strict and precise with crisp red cherries and fresh strawberry. There is great mineralité here with a long tail on finish. Excellent." 4/15. . 90 Points; John Gilman; View From the Cellar: "The lieu à dit of les Jeunes Rois lies just downslope from le Clos and was planted in 1952; so these are now vines over sixty years of age and the old vines have given the wine a nice sense of sappiness at the core. The wine wafts from the glass in a mélange of red and black cherries; a bit of grilled meat; a nice base of soil tones; cocoa; a touch of new wood and a topnote of coffee. On the palate the wine is pure; full-bodied and very nicely balanced; with a nice core of sappy fruit; moderate tannins and good length and grip on the focused and classy young finish. This too was raised in fifteen percent new oak; but there is no signs of wood tannins on the backend." 4/15. . Stephen Tanzer; Vinous: "Good medium red. Aromas of red berries; spices and leather; plus a hint of underbrush. Boasts good ripeness and intensity to its juicy; spicy red fruit flavors. A bit tighter and more serious than the Champ but without that wine's early sweetness. This vineyard is very close to the Champ but has more clay and rocks (rather than calcaire and marl). A touch of dryness calls for at least a couple years of patience." 3/16. . Allen Meadows; Burghound: "An elegant array of essence of red currant is nuanced by hints of herbal tea; plum; violet; wet stone and earth scents. There is a lovely texture to the mineral-driven middle weight flavors that possess fine energy and detail on the balanced; focused and solidly persistent if moderately austere finish." 1/16
