Stephen Tanzer; Vinous: "(50% new oak; totally destemmed): Bright dark red. Blackberry; licorice and violet complicated by a hint of dark chocolate on the slightly medicinal nose. At once smooth and juicy; showing moderate depth to the black cherry and mint flavors. This rather crunchy wine finishes with a touch of minerality but its serious tannins currently cut off the fruit. These younger Chambertin vines yielded a modest 23 hectoliters per hectare in 2015 but the older vines produced just 17; according to winemaker Nadine Gublin." 01/17. . Allen Meadows; Burghound: "This is the first wine where the wood treatment isn't fairly subtle as here there are notes of both toast and menthol that tussle a bit with the otherwise ripe aromas of cassis; spice and warm earth. The lavishly rich; suave and sappy middle weight flavors exude a distinct mocha character on the slightly ponderous finish. This certainly doesn't lack for concentration but I find it borderline heavy." 4/17. . Neal Martin; Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru comes from the younger vines (20 years old) from the Chambertin Grand Cru (a bit like Mugneret-Gibourg's own Gevrey 1er Cru in Ruchottes up until the 2011 vintage). It has a crisp; mineral-driven bouquet; a little pinched at first but opening up with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied and feels just a little oaky on the entry; although the second half is nicely balanced with a velvety smooth finish." 12/16

93-95 Points; Allen Meadows; Burghound: "The breezy nose is also overtly spicy with markedly ripe yet fresh aromas of plum liqueur; cassis and Asian-style tea nuances. There is outstanding concentration to the powerful yet polished and sleek broad-shouldered and mineral-inflected flavors that are at once muscular and refined while delivering positively terrific depth and length. I very much like the balance and this stunner of a wine should also reward longer-term cellaring." 4/15. . 93-95 Points; Neal Martin; Wine Advocate: "There are eight barrels of Jacques Prieur's 2013 Musigny Grand Cru; of which six barrels are new. Now this fully absorbs the new wood better than the Chambertin; so much so that you barely recognize it. It is well defined with black cherries; boysenberry and wild hedgerow scents - all very natural and refined. The palate is well balanced with succulent ripe tannins; well-judged acidity; the oak a little forward toward the finish; but it is in sync with the fruit and rounds this Musigny out nicely. Predictably; this is the finest red from Jacques Prieur this year." 12/14. . 93+ Points; Stephen Tanzer; Vinous: "Bright dark red. Redcurrant; spices and dried flowers on the nose; with an exhilarating hint of candied red fruits. Youthfully imploded today but shows terrific cut to its flavors of red and black fruits; rose and violet. Conveys a distinctly delicate texture; with its firm; late-arriving tannins completely buffered by extract. Builds inexorably on the very long finish; leaving behind a strong blueberry element. This classic; very backward Musigny does not yet show the class of Prieur's Echézeaux--it's clearly a warmer style of wine--but offers outstanding potential." 3/16
