93+ Points, Christopher Deas, Zachys Buying Team: "93+ Points, Christopher Deas, Zachys Buying Team: “This is another 2015 Bourgogne Rouge that is absolutely delicious, and in our opinion drinks more like a Premier Cru. It is instead a near perfect expression of a generic appellation wine delivering immediate enjoyment with a touch of sophistication from the noble varietal - sans the crazy expensive 2015 price tag. Thus, the enthusiastic Zachys rating of this value gem. It is also another example of where the critics got it wrong and that Burgundy is simply rated on a different scale. This is an overachieving appellation wine that has been referenced by critics as “almost always an outperformer” and “an absolutely delicious wine” even though the scores may not capture these accurate and positive comments. And what you should know here is that the grapes are sourced from two superior vineyards, one parcel next to the Grand Cru Clos Vougeot, with the other adjacent to vineyards of Morey-Saint-Denis. It should also be noted that this overachieving Bourgogne Rouge is comprised of old vines averaging more than 50 years of age. In the glass, this wine screams Burgundy – it is another one of those wines where the aromatics alone are worth the price of admission. On the palate, there is red fruit galore – concentrated sweet cherries, tart strawberries, ripe currants that are accented by black raspberries, cinnamon, licorice, violets and a touch of chalky minerality. It is an expansive mouthful, but yet the wine is so fresh and light on its feet. There is an inner perfume to the wine that echoes across the palate for a long finish. It is difficult to match the generosity of this wine at this price point. Just 15 barrels were produced for the world. Enjoy!”"

88-91 Points; Stephen Tanzer; Vinous: "Very fresh aromas of black cherry; pepper; cocoa powder; ginger and cumin. Sweet; juicy and tight; with good penetration and spine to the dark berry and spice flavors. Finishes sappy; saline and long. Nicolas Groffier destemmed this fruit but added some stems back into the fermenter as he felt they were fully ripe." 01/12

95+ Points; Antonio Galloni; Vinous: "Dark; bright red. Knockout nose combines sappy red and darker berries; mocha and underbrush; complemented by sexy sweet oak and lifted by a rose petal perfume. Pure crunchy cranberry and pomegranate fruit flavors convey an almost painful urgency; thanks to the energy provided by the whole-cluster fermentation. Chewy; deep and very backward wine; finishing with a distinctly savory character and a peppery quality from the stems. Exciting potential here. Both this wine and the Bonnes-Mares display a distinctly redder--as opposed to black--fruit character from bottle than they did from tank in November of 2013." 01/14
