"Made by Laurent Vaille and sporting a semi-opaque ruby color; the 2010 Languedoc Grange des Peres is comprised of 40% Syrah; 40% Mourvedre and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon that’s aged all in 228-liter barrels. An elegant; lively and complex wine; it offers ample currant and assorted dark fruits; leafy herbs; spice and hints of minerality that flow to a medium to full-bodied; beautifully textured 2010 that has nothing out of place; notable acidity and a core of sweet fruit. Fleshing out beautifully in the glass; it’s surprisingly approachable; so don’t be afraid to open bottles anytime soon (decant); yet I suspect it will evolve gracefully for upwards of 12-15 years given the overall balance and harmony...93" WA 4/14

94+ Points; Zachys Buying Team : «Think of it as the perfect combination of Bordeaux meets Rhone meets Rioja. We uncorked this gem; decanted and tasted it over 24 hours and it only got better. It provides for a rich; dense; fuller-styled expression that remains uniquely light on its feet. It is a big; finessed wine and there is a huge spectrum of nuances here that keeps you coming back to the glass; red cherry and plum preserves; tomato leaf; dried fruits; cassis; sweet tobacco; licorice; coffee and crushed stones. There is ripe; almost sweet-like note of succulent red and blue fruit here that is intoxicating. Truly a unique wine that brings together depth and complexity that you do not find in this region of the world. It is a wine; as Robert Parker once said; that is worth seeking out. Decant for two hours and serve at cellar temperature.»

Winemaker Laurent Vaille's south-facing vines get very low yields; normally from twenty to twenty-five hectoliters per hectare. All are pruned in the gobelet style. The simultaneous restraint and power of his wines makes them ideal for aging. His area of the Languedoc has since become known to produce some of the greatest wines in the region. In his words; “Nature gave us a partition of land. It is up to us to interpret it.”. . Traditional farming and vinification; vines in taille gobelet; red varietals are harvested and vinified separately and then aged in 228-L barrels separately. Reds are blended after the wines are fully complete; before settling and bottling.
