94+ Points; John Gilman; View From the Cellar: "The 2013 les Cras from Ghislaine Barthod will be one of the finest premier crus produced in Chambolle in this vintage. The beautifully complex; pure and properly reserved nose delivers a superb blend of red and black cherries; pomegranate; a very complex base of soil tones; gamebirds; woodsmoke and a deft framing of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure; full-bodied and stunningly transparent; with a rock solid core of fruit; fine-grained tannins; laser-like focus and outstanding length and grip on the vibrant and dancing finish. Given this beautiful bottle of Chambolle a good decade in the cellar to allow it to reach full maturity; and then revel in your good sense to have purchased it for the following three or four decades! Great wine." 12/14. . 92-94 Points; Allen Meadows; Burghound: "This is also ultra-elegant and pure with an airy; cool and layered nose that features lovely notes of spice; red cherry; plum and violet scents. There is a huge reserve of dry extract that imparts a sappy texture to the intensely mineral-driven medium weight flavors that possess excellent punch on the velvety; detailed and saline-inflected finish. This beauty is a classic Les Cras of power and grace." 1/15. . 92+ Points; Stephen Tanzer; Vinous: " Healthy medium red; a bit less saturated than the Véroilles. Sappy; pure scents of red cherry; raspberry; menthol and flowers. Sweet and penetrating; displaying terrific acid cut and lift to the tangy flavors of red fruits; flowers and minerals. More reserved and upright than the Véroilles today; showing less early volume; but plenty dense and not at all hard or dry. The tightest and most backward of these 2013s; finishing firmly tannic; classically dry and very long. This should age a long time." 3/16. . 91 Points; Neal Martin; Wine Advocate: "Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting in Beaune; the 2013 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Cras has a crisp; orderly; well-defined bouquet with mineral-rich brambly red fruit that opens nicely in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine delineation; supple tannin; dark berry fruit mixed with tea and a touch of black olive. Good length; fine backbone; this is a very well made; you might say "orderly" Chambolle-Musigny." 11/16

92-94 Points; Neal Martin; Wine Advocate: "One of Ghislaine Barthod’s tiniest productions; the 2013 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru les Gruenchers has a complex undergrowth and forest floor-scented bouquet that seems to draw you in. The aromatics are detailed and gain intensity in the glass. The palate is finely balanced with exquisite delineation. This premier cru possesses focus and tension with a sense of energy and poise on the finish. It is one of the best wines from the domaine this year...‘tis a pity there is so little of it!" 12/14. . 93+ Points; John Gilman; View From the Cellar: "The Gruenchers chez Barthod seems to get better with each passing vintage and the 2013 is very; very strong. The lovely bouquet jumps from the glass in a red fruity blaze of strawberries; cherries; roses; cocoa powder; complex; chalky minerality; a touch of nutskin and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure; full-bodied and very; very transparent in personality; with a sappy core of red fruit; suave tannins and a very; very long; very elegant finish. I love this wine this year (but; perhaps I have said that before?) for its absolutely quintessential personality." 12/14. . 90-93 Points; Allen Meadows; Burghound: "Here too there is enough reduction to push the fruit to the background but the nose is clearly ripe. The velvety and seductively textured medium-bodied flavors possess a very generous mouth feel yet the finish tightens up quickly on the persistent and balanced finish. This doesn't quite have the overall depth of material as say the Les Fuées or the Les Cras but this is still most impressive." 1/15. . 90-92 Points; Stephen Tanzer; Vinous: "Good medium-deep red. Tangy; expressive aromas of strawberry; raspberry and red cherry complemented by a note of licorice. Sappy and dense; showing an intriguing saline nuance to its intense red berry flavors. Velvety but not thick; this fine-grained premier cru finishes with chewy; ripe tannins and lovely length. An excellent showing today." 11/14
