Saffredi Le Pupille 2014 (750ML)

95 Points, Zachys Buying Team: "This is a beauty of a wine, and perhaps along with Ornellaia, are the candidates for wine of the vintage in the category of Super Tuscans. It begins with a knockout bouquet blue fruits and minerality that reaches across the table. On the palate it has the delicious now factor, a mouthful of juicy texture, almost Chambolle-like and remains light on its feet, dancing across the palate. Loads of fresh berries, dark cherry, herbs and earth. By far the most elegant and approachable Saffredi we have tasted in years which is one of the great attributes of the vintage."

Wine Advocate

92 Points, Monica Larner, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2014 Saffredi is on the market now, but could use more time to age and develop. The bouquet is slow to open and once it does, it shows dark fruit intensity with blackberry and dried cherry at the front. The are tight aromas of spice, cured leather and dark chocolate as well. This edition of Saffredi shows good textural richness in the mouth, but the overall effect is leaner and more compact compared to the excellent vintage that precedes it. Because that tannic firmness still needs time to relax, this bottle is definitely premature to drink now." 4/17

"96 Points - James Suckling ( ""Sexy blueberry, spice and black pepper. Mushroom. Full body and ultra-fine tannins. Extremely long and just starting to come around now. Needs a little more time in bottle. Splendid finish. Try in 2019 but already amazing..."" 4/3/17"
