Peter Jakob Kuhn Hallgartener Hendelberg Riesling Trocken 2018 (750ML)
Stephan Reinhardt, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Compared to the Hallgarten Riesling the 2018 Hallgarten Hendelberg Riesling trocken, is brighter and more crystalline and slatey on the nose. On the palate, this is a pure, vital, nervy, vibrating and very refined Riesling with a charming kiss of unfermented sugar and serious grip. The wine is lean and elegant, cool rather than warm and reveals a tensioned and persistently salty finish. Tasted in April 2020." 8/20
John Gilman, View From the Cellar: "The Kühn family’s parcel of vines in the Hendelberg section of the Hallgarten average forty-six years of age. This wine comes in at 12.5 percent alcohol as well in the 2018 vintage and 121 delivers a superb young nose of lemon, white peach, breadfruit, bee pollen, spring flowers, a lovely base of slate, just a whisper of sweet nuttiness and a topnote of lemongrass. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, focused and classy, with a fine girdle of acidity, a lovely core, good mineral drive and bounce and a long, nascently complex and very nicely balanced finish. This is excellent juice in the making and will be a very, very elegant example of Rheingauer Trocken when it reaches its apogee. 2026-2065." 4/21 #92
