Wine Advocate

95 Points, Stephan Reinhardt, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Picked in late October, during the last week of the harvest, the fuder-fermented 2017 Zeltinger Himmelreich Riesling Auslese Anrecht is a concentrated, sweet but salty-piquant and well-structured Auslese with good grip and tension and lingering salinity. This Auslese is made to be combined with food, but don't even think about it before 2030. Tasted in March 2019." 6/19

John Gilman

95 Points, John Gilman, View from the Cellar: "The Anrecht section of the Himmelreich vineyard is one of the blocks of old vines that Johannes Selbach and his team now pick en masse, rather than making a selection for different Prädikat levels. In 2017, this resulted in a beautiful Auslese from this block of old vines, which offers up a bright and complex bouquet of pear, white cherries, wild yeasts, a stunningly complex base of slate minerality (particularly for Auslese!), a hint of the honeycomb to come and a topnote of apple blossoms. On the palate the wine is pure, full, complex and nicely reserved in profile out of the blocks, with superb focus and grip, bright, snappy acids and a very, very long, nascently complex finish. This is outstanding! (Drink between 2026-2075)" 6/18
