Riesling Auslese Anrecht Zeltinger Himmelreicht Selbach-Oster 2016 (750ML)
94+ Points, Stephan Reinhardt, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Zeltinger Himmelreich Riesling Auslese "Anrecht" (AP 36 17) has a deep, spicy bouquet of super ripe and concentrated fruits intermixed with slightly oaky notes, although the wine has never seen a fuder. Intense, piquant and structured on the palate, this is a moderately sweet, fresh and structured Riesling with salt, grip and tension in the finish. This is not a classic Auslese but a terroir-driven wine with concentration, grip and mineral tension. The finish is salty and almost drying, so the sweetness doesn't weigh that much here. Impressive." #236, 4/18.
92 Points, David Schildknecht, Vinous: "Scents of brown-spiced dried pear and apple lead into a glossy, glycerol-rich, sappy and soothing palate. The long finish delivers a burst of fresh fruit as well as a transparency to stony, saline nuances that one might not have anticipated given what went before, but which nicely demonstrate the effects of block-picking in capturing virtues of Riesling berries ranging from green-golden and still-crunchy through nobly concentrated." 1/18.
93 Points, James Suckling: "The yellow grapefruit says "hi" and wants you to know that he's the king. This may not be the ultimate Mosel auslese, but it's a really delicious and joyful wine. Best during the next decade." 1/17.
94 Points, Aleks Zecevic, Wine Spectator: "Pure and elegant, displaying seductive flavors of peach jam, apple sauce and pistachio ice cream, loaded with sweet spicy notes of cinnamon and nutmeg. The finish goes on and on, with fresh but creamy flavors, and accents of citrus and dried pineapple. Best from 2021 through 2039." 2/19
92-94 Points, Jean Fisch and David Rayer, Mosel Fine Wines: "The 2016er Anrecht was block-harvested in the similarly named Lieu-Dit situated in a steep hill part of the Zeltinger Himmelreich vineyard (the reference to Himmelreich is only mentioned on the back label). It is still marked by some residual scents from spontaneous fermentation. These give way to a gorgeous bouquet of white peach, pear, grapefruit zest and white flowers on the nose. The wine is nicely playful with good presence yet slender body on the palate and leaves a beautifully long and persistent feel in the pear and white flower infused finish. 2026-2041" #36, 7/17.
