93 Points, William Kelley, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Combettes is showing very well indeed from bottle, wafting from the glass with aromas of Anjou pear, toasted nut and white flowers, framed by some classy new oak. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, broad-shouldered and textural, with succulent acids, excellent depth at the core and a muscular, fleshy profile. This is shaping up to rank as one of Leflaive's best 2016s." 4/19

Tactile, broad and adamantly dry, with its stone fruit and spice flavors given additional sex appeal by an element of orange zest. Finishes chewy, dry and long." 9/18

More interesting are the racy, tight, intense and relatively powerful medium weight flavors that possess first-rate mid-palate concentration thanks to the copious level of dry extract that also buffers the firm core of ripe acidity shaping the admirably long and well-balanced finale. Note that at least some patience will be required." 06/18

92 Points, John Gilman, View From the Cellar: "The 2016 Combettes was untouched by frost and the wine is very fine in this vintage. The elegant and focused nose offers up scents of apple, pear, chalky minerality, vanillin oak, fresh almond, orange zest and a nice esthery touch of bee pollen in the upper register. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and nicely defined by its backend mineral drive, with a lovely core, an appropriately reserved and youthful personality and a long, vibrant finish. This is not a really intensely flavored wine this year (due to the leaf roll virus perhaps?), but will be supremely elegant at its apogee and I like it very much in 2016. 2022-2050." Issue #72
