90 Points, William Kelley, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clavoillon is already quite expressive, wafting from the glass with pretty aromas of pear, wheat toast, peaches and honeycomb, with citrus top notes on the upper register. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, elegantly textural and pure, with ripe acids and a surprisingly open-knit profile, falling a little short on the finish. This is a delicious bottle of white Burgundy, but it doesn't seem to possess the concentration and cut of a great vintage." 4/19

90 Points, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous: "Sexy if rather reticent aromas of peach and minerals suggest moderately ripe grapes. In a cooler style in the mouth, offering good breadth but not the clarity of the 2017 version. Finishes with good dusty persistence but I wanted a bit more verve." 9/18

90+ Points, John Gilman, View From the Cellar: "The 2016 Clavoillon was another wine that really was not singing at the time of my visit, sharing an apparent lack of energy in comparison to some of these other wines in the cellar. The nose is very pretty and quite wide open, delivering scents of white peach, apple, almond, chalk, white flowers and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, crisp and complex, with good, but not great depth at the core, sound acids and a long, elegant and laid back finish. It will be interesting to see if this wine gains more backend cut and grip with further elevage." Issue #72

This 2016 shows a pure and high-toned bouquet of lemon oil, white flowers and a delicate scent of peach. The wine is glossy, medium-full and sappy, with moderate concentration and depth." 10/17
