91-93 Points, Neal Martin, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Around 25% of the production was lost because of frost with respect to Cathiard's 2016 Nuits Saint-Georges 1er Cru Aux Thorey. It has an extremely floral bouquet loaded with crushed violets, so Vosne-Romanée like in style. Very ostentatious! The palate is medium-bodied with black cherries and blueberry fruit, strict tannin underneath that segue into with a sustained, peppery and quite penetrating finish. Maybe the showiest of Sebastien's wines from barrel, but you know that this is going to give so much joy once in bottle." 12/17

90-92 Points, Allen Meadows, Burghound: "A subtly spiced array speaks of ultra-fresh aromas of dark currant, violet, plum and soft earth wisps. The mid-palate of the middle weight flavors is deceptively pliant because as the lingering and lightly stony and rustic finish sits on the palate the supporting tannins become more evident. I very much like the depth and persistence though note that this will require a few years of aging." 01/18
