Nero d`Avola Rosso di Contrada Marabino 2016 (750ML)

90 Points, Eric Guido, Vinous: "This drop-dead gorgeous and extroverted Nero d'Avola will win a lot of hearts with its ripe wild berry fruits, backed by exotic spice, and sweet florals. Mineral-drenched cherries are contrasted by grippy acids that make the mouth water, while its spicy finish goes on and on and on." 04/20.

"In ancient times, the red wines of this territory were known as Pachino wines, and not as Nero d'Avola, because each district gives different wines from the same vines, thanks to the nature of the soils and to the different microclimates. The "Rosso di Contrada" wine is a concept that is based on the desire to go deeper and respect the parcelling of individual vineyards from the same district, in order to obtain wines from Nero d'Avola grapes completely different from each other thanks to the uneven nature of the soils. The hill where the vineyards are located is called "cozzo del parroco", all the vineyards are located close together. Their characteristic consists of having four different types of soils all of clayey limestone. Each parcel is characterized by different soil compositions, exposure and breeding system, giving each wine unique characteristics that are well distinguishable. All the wines are obtained from the same districts but yet all unique expressions, within the same Buonivini district. This wine is produced from Nero d'Avola grapes obtained from the following vineyards: coniglio, lenza lunga, conca and parrino. Each vineyard has very in homogenic soil chromaticity, different exposures and slopes. The Rosso di Contrada is the expression of our work and of a hill immersed in the nature of the place in the Buonivini district. To better understand the potential of each vineyard we have always vinified and matured separately every single parcel and, we have never crushed the grapes but only de-stemmed them to have greater respect for the raw material. It matures in barrels for one year and bottling on the fruit days of the lunar calendar. It refines in bottles for at least a year. It is a classic Nero d'Avola, typical expression of our district, with sweet tannins and abundant freshness." - Winery Note
