94 Points, William Keller, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Deep and complete, the 2018 Morgon opens in the glass with notes of cassis, plums, smoked meats and cracked pepper. Medium to full-bodied, supple and layered, it's seamless and beautifully balanced, with powdery tannins and succulent acids. This is another terrific wine from Julien Sunier." 5/20

A highly complex bouquet evokes fresh, mineral-tinged dark berries and cherry liqueur, along with suggestions of succulent flowers and baking spices. Silky and focused in the mouth, offering alluringly sweet black raspberry, cherry-cola, spicecake and rose pastille flavors that are underscored by a vein of smoky minerality. Gentle tannins sneak up slowly on the impressively long finish, which shows excellent clarity and leaves behind sappy blue fruit and spice notes." 10/19

93 Points, John Gilman, View from the Cellar: "The Morgon from Julien Sunier hails from two parcels of more than fifty year-old vines, with one being the well-known lieu à dit of la Corcelette and the other lying on the Régnié-Morgon border and called En Oeillat. Like all of Monsieur Sunier's wines, the Morgon is aged in older Burgundy casks sourced from Domaine Roumier in Chambolle-Musigny. The 2018 version is outstanding, offering up a really lovely bouquet of red and black cherries, gamebird, woodsmoke, complex soil tones, a fine array of spices and just a hint of oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, focused and very well-balanced, with a fine core of fruit, just a bit of tannin and lovely bounce and grip on the long and complex finish. This comes in listed at 12.5 percent and is one of the most classically-proportioned 2018s that I tasted for this report. First class juice! (Drink between 2020-2055)" 2/20
