Morey St Denis La Riotte Perrot-Minot 2013 (750ML)

Bright medium red. Reduced, musky aromas of strawberry, raspberry, crushed stone and smoke. Silky and suave in texture; still quite reduced but the sweet red berry, iron and spice flavors have energy and shape. Very smooth and broad for the year. Finishes with suave, ripe tannins and a spicy, firming edge. Much deeper than the Rue de Vergy: there's more wine here.

There is enough reduction to push the underlying fruit to the background though it clearly seems ripe. Here too there is excellent volume and mid-palate concentration to the delicious, intense and lightly mineral-inflected flavors that possess a fleshy mouth feel before concluding in a sleekly muscular, firm and well-balanced finish. This should also drink reasonably well young but amply reward longer-term cellaring as well...90-93 Burghound 01/15
