Neil Martin

91 Points, Neal Martin, Vinous: "The 2018 Morey-Saint-Denis La Forge de Tart 1er Cru is a little more rustic on the nose compared to the nascent 2019. Blackberry, wild hedgerow, potpourri and light mineral aromas vie for attention. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly edgy/chalky tannins on the entry. Good acidity, maybe a little rustic and quite peppery, despite this cuvée being 100% de-stemmed. I like the fact that this wears its heart on its sleeve." 10/20

Burghound

90 Points, Allen Meadows, Burghound: "There is acceptable freshness to the mostly dark berry aromas that include ripe nuances of plum, cassis, spice and violet that is trimmed in enough oak to merit pointing out. There isn't quite the same concentration as the 2019 version to the velvet-textured flavors that offer very good depth and persistence on the firm, balanced and sappy finish. This is certainly pretty and delicious but it's less elegant than its 2019 counterpart." #81 01/21

Decanter

98 Points, Jane Anson, Decanter: "Absolutely bursting with blue and red fruits, the concentration is deceptive here, as it starts out juicy and full of air, but after a few minutes in the glass you start to feel the weight and the texture, and this turns into an extremely serious wine with real tannic hold. Gorgeous savoury finish, as you get so often in the best Burgundies, where weightlessness is such a brilliant veil to the power behind. 55% whole cluster." 02/20
