Vinous Media
91 Points, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous: "Bright yellow. Slightly stunted aromas of stone and citrus fruits. Quite ripe in its deep yellow fruit flavors but given a distinctly penetrating quality by a surprising spine of minerality and fresh acidity. This wine actually seems riper than it did from barrel a year ago, but with no loss of energy. Finishes with a faintly phenolic edge and a lingering note of dusty stone." 09/18
Burghound
90-93 Points, Allen Meadows, Burghound: [Outstanding] "A notably more elegant and airier nose slowly reveals super-fresh aromas of pure citrus-tinged pear, apple and plenty of floral influence. The medium weight flavors are refined to the point of being delicate before culminating in an intensely saline and mineral-infused finish. This understated and harmonious effort is lovely." 06/18
John Gilman
91-92 Points, John Gilman, View from the Cellar: "The 2016 Bouchères had already been racked into tank and was just a touch reductive at the time of my visit, so perhaps I am underestimating this wine just a tad. With some swirling, the bouquet opens up nicely to offer scents of apple, tangerine, iodine, chalky soil tones, hazelnuts and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, crisp and complex, with good, but not great depth at the core, fine purity and nascent complexity, but not quite the precision of the outstanding Clos de la Barre. As I said, perhaps this was just a tad grumpy from its fairly recent racking? 2020-2040" 11/17
