Zachys
93 Points, Christopher Deas, Zachys Buying Team: "Tasted from barrel and bottle. Want to get excited about Northern Médoc and 2016 Bordeaux, it begins here. It is a wine of deceiving approachability and ageability. The La Dame screams freshness on the nose and jumps out of the glass onto the palate with a layer of soft and inviting fruit. But make no mistake, this is a classically structured Saint-Estèphe with a signature touch of graphite and firmness under the hood. Expect layers of cherries, cassis, blackberries, crushed violets, licorice and earth. For Zachys, it is the finest La Dame release since the 2010 and is everything this wine is supposed to be; an approachable introduction to Montrose that captures the signature characteristics of the 2016 vintage with well-integrated tannins. A value find to get excited about." 12/18
Wine Advocate
91 Points, Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 La Dame de Montrose is deep garnet-purple colored and gives up cassis, earth, tilled soil, truffles and chocolate-covered cherries on the nose. Medium-bodied, the palate is firm, elegant and restrained with a mineral finish." 11/18
Vinous Media
89-92 Points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous: "The 2016 La Dame de Montrose is plump, juicy and seductive from the very first taste. Bright floral notes give the wine lovely aromatic expansiveness. Sweet red cherry, plum, pomegranate and sweet spice notes are all pushed forward. In many vintages, La Dame is a smaller-scale version of the Grand Vin, but in 2016 it is almost unusually polished and sensual, an impression that is enhanced by voluptuous, almost opulent fruit and ripe, silky tannins. In 2016, La Dame is also dominated by Merlot, which no doubt contributes to its personality. Tasted two times." 2/18
