Wine Advocate

93 Points, Anthony Mueller, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: </br>"Beginning with a juicy and generous nose, the 2017 Syrah Powerline offers stewed plum, baked black cherry and spiced blueberry compote with elements of umami, baked earth and black pepper. Full-bodied, the wine displays a firm, succulent and dusty nature on the palate, giving way to lifting tannins that are open-knit and approachable in youth. It ends with persistent flavors of spiced plum skin on the long-lingering and subtly spiced finish. The wine rested for 28 months on the lees in 68% new French oak puncheons. Just over 13,000 bottles were produced." 07/21

Vinous Media

92+ Points, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous: "Bright dark red. Less forthcoming on the nose than The Beautiful, even a bit inky, hinting at blacker fruits and olive. A more serious, wound-up midweight with very good density, spicy intensity and thrust--and more saline than sweet. Less wild and meaty than The Beautiful; more peppery, rooty and earthy, with a rocky quality contributing tension. This still needs another year or so to unwind. (this spent 25 months in barrel, vs. 18 for The Beautiful)" 12/20

James Suckling

96 Points, James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com: "Really spicy and peppery with lots of black-fruit and licorice character and some aniseed. Medium-to full-bodied with firm tannins and nice roundness at the end. Cloves and cracked pepper. Spicy. Drink or hold." 07/21
