"With the original planting in 1979, Merlot was the primary red variety on our estate. Your wine represents the first Merlot produced in Coombsville, starting with the 1985 vintage. The Merlot grapes were grown on volcanic ash deposits and the Cabernet Sauvignon on red volcanic soils. \nWe proudly present our 22nd Premiere Napa Valley wine since the inaugural event in 1997. Upon evaluation of our 2019 lots, it was clear that our Merlots really made a statement. Thinking back to our 1985 inaugural vintage, now 91-year-old Frank Farella focused on Merlot with a little Cabernet Sauvignon for structure. These wines have aged beautifully over the decades and we felt this would be a great way to honor him and share one of our deepest loves: juicy, succulent and delicious Merlot, built for aging and long on complexity." -Winery
