Vinous Media
92-95 Points, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous: "(50% of a normal crop, from vines in Les Rouges du Bas): Bright full red. Aromas of raspberry, flint, menthol and licorice are lifted by a floral topnote. Very concentrated, tightly wound wine with terrific cut and herbal/mineral lift. Conveys an almost late-harvest dried-fruit nuance but at the same time penetrating and not particularly fleshy, showing a minty quality. Best today on the floral, slowly rising finish, which features firm but very suave tannins. This grand cru is going to take a long time to reach full maturity. (Jadot did not make a Grands-Echézeaux in 2016.)" 1/18
Burghound
92-94 Points, Allen Meadows, Burghound: "Here too there is a distinct coolness to the wonderfully pure aromas of earth, rose petal, red currant and the sauvage that are set off by noticeable wood and menthol nuances. The rich, dense and sappy broad-shouldered yet refined flavors possess a suave and polished mouth feel, all wrapped in a stony and hugely long finish. This excellent effort is markedly firm but very well-balanced and should age effortlessly for years to come." 4/18
Decanter
94 Points, William Kelley, Decanter: "The Echezeaux, from the domaine's vines in the excellent climat of Les Rouges du Bas, is normally a standout in the Jadot range, and 2016 does not disappoint despite the heavy frost experienced here. Notes of wood smoke, ripe cherry, rich soil and grilled game bird are followed by a full-bodied, expansive wine with elegant tannins, impressive breadth and good balancing acidity. This is quite giving in personality this year." 10/2017
