And too often we then stereotype California Pinot as rich, sweet and sappy. Well, if you are looking for cut, bright red fruits, earthy minerality and salinity - look no further than Mendocino's Anderson Valley and that of the Drew Family Cellars. This is a wine that needs some time in the glass to open and gain weight on its restrained frame. Delicate and perfumed on the nose that keeps you bending in. On the palate expect to find nuances that cover the red fruit flavor spectrum - tart strawberries, rhubarb, cranberry, black cherries, a touch of tea, smoke and herbs. We recommend treating this noble Pinot interpretation like a Sangiovese based wine and serve it with grilled or braised pork loin chops or better yet, let some bottles age for an exceptional expression of Anderson Valley."
