Neil Martin

94-96 Points, Neal Martin, Vinous: "The 2020 Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru has a glorious, expressive bouquet with well-defined blackberry, briary and crushed limestone aromas that soar from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannins, taut and fresh, quite saline in the mouth with a very controlled, linear and saline finish, black olive and even a hint of anchovie on the aftertaste. Great persistence, but it will need time in bottle." 11/21

93-95 Points, Allen Meadows, Burghound: "A wonderfully layered nose more freely reveals its spicier and more elegant aromas of red currant that are liberally laced with floral wisps. The pure, refined and attractively vibrant medium-bodied flavors exude equally good salinity on the classy and very stylish finale that goes on and on. This does need to develop better depth with time in bottle but the potential appears to be present so I would advise having at least some patience." 01/22

94-96 Points, Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy: "100% whole bunch, one barrel of one year old François Frères. The ownership of this plot has just changed but Virgile has a long term lease with the new owners. Rich deep purple, a little bit raisiny but this is superficial, then the peppers are there. Bouncy and vibrant with ripe cherries, not quite the length or distinction of Clos de la Roche but still very good." 12/21
