Clos de Vougeot Faiveley 2016 (750ML)

Wine Advocate

92 Points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru opens in the glass with an attractive bouquet of dark berries, red cherries, smoked meats and rich, loamy soil. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, succulent but tight-knit, with a nicely concentrated core of sapid fruit, racy acids and fine-grained but youthfully chewy tannins. It's one of the more reserved wines in the range, but it also doesn't appear to possess the plenitude or completeness of Faiveley's most successful cuvées in the 2016 vintage." 1/19

Vinous Media

92-94 Points, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous: "(Faiveley vinified the old vines separately but then assembled them with the rest): Bright ruby-red. Alluring floral nose combines blackberry, black raspberry, violet and licorice. A savory and rather refined young Clos Vougeot, offering subtle notes of dark berries, flowers and earth rather than this grand cru's more typical black cherry and herb qualities. Nothing rustic about this highly promising Clos Vougeot!" 1/18

Wine Spectator

95 Points, Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator: "A high-toned mix of floral, wild cherry, currant and mint flavors marks this tightly wound style. This is supported by fine-grained oak and similarly refined tannins, yet has the intensity to match, ending in a long, cascading aftertaste of fruit, spice and chalk. Best from 2023 through 2045" 1/19
