94 Points, Micheala Morris, Decanter: "Originally planted at the end of the 1990s, Coltassala is Volpaia’s oldest vineyard. The 2.5ha plot reaches 535 metres on sandstone soil. It divulges its French barrique ageing with preliminary aromas of coffee, incense and roasted meat; then it makes way for Radda’s scented floral nuances. The oak falls into place properly on the palate. A creamy texture is juxtaposed by brisk, lifting acidity. Chalky rather than chewy tannins are assertive and sophisticated, and lilac and lavender accent the finish." 03/22
