With fruit sourced from one of the Mazzei family's historic vineyards, this distinctive wine stands apart in the portfolio thanks to its bright cherry and berry aromas as well as the subtle spice, tar and smoke that fill in the back so seamlessly. Crushed rocks, mint, white flowers and red-toned fruit open over time, but only with great reluctance. The Badiòla is an intriguing wine, to be sure, but it is not especially forthcoming today. Patience is of the essence, as this taut Gran Selezione is going to need at least a few years to unwind." 9/21

Tree Sangiovese biotypes, tree from mass selection, the nose is thick and intense, wild berries, hints of marjoram, eucalyptus and peony on the finish. The mouthfeel is taut and compact, with savoury tannins. Dark small fruits reappearing in the aftertaste.” 4/21
