93 Points, Zachys Buying Team: "Now there's a nose that transports you to the Tuscan hills with a quick pull of the cork. Not only does this wine impress on the nose, it is super tasty today on the palate with awesome vibrancy to accompany the generous fruit. Expect to find nuances of black cherry, red licorice, cinnamon, dried fruit, tar, and hints of baked earth to come with a little more age. It truly is a wine that screams Tuscany from the glass and alongside the Il Poggione Rosso di Montalcino, this is once again our go-to Italian house wine. It is simply a nearly flawless expression of Sangiovese delivered with value. Bring on the Bolognese."
91+ points, Monica Larner, Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate: “The 2017 Chianti Classico Berardenga is a fine and precise wine that shows some of the warmth, good cheer and exuberance of the vintage, but that ultimately proves to be better contained and more carefully etched than I would have anticipated. The bouquet starts off with black fruit and light shadings of spice, but the best part is in those mineral aromas of flint and slate. Serve it with stuffed red peppers. Some 280,000 bottles were made.”09/19
90 Points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous: "The 2017 Chianti Classico Berardenga is an absolutely gorgeous wine. Racy, powerful and sumptuous in the glass, the 2017 offers terrific depth and textural resonance. Sweet black cherry, plum, mocha, licorice and spice bring out the darker side of Sangiovese. Bold and racy, the 2017 will drink beautifully right out of the gate."
95 Points, James Suckling: "A very fresh 2017 with plenty of tight and linear tannins that give the wine energy and drive. Medium to full body. Racy finish. This is impressive. Fantastic texture and complexity on the palate with purple fruit and wet earth. Drink or hold."
92 Points, Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator: "Rich, with black cherry, plum, iron and violet aromas and flavors, this red is suave and multidimensional. Vibrant and balanced, featuring a lingering finish that echoes the fruit and adds a spice accent..." 12/19
93 points, Kerin O’Keefe, Wine Enthusiast: “Aromas of plum, exotic spice, eucalyptus and a hint of violet form the nose. The medium-bodied palate is elegantly structured and has nice tension, offering mature black cherry, blackberry compote and licorice accompanied by polished tannins. Drink through 2023.” 04/20
90 points, Michaela Morris, Decanter: “In the southernmost reaches of the region, the Fèlsina property is divided up into 17 vineyards, 11 of which fall into the Chianti Classico denomination. The annata, which has been made since 1967, is a selection of grapes coming from these different parcels. It has inviting, fragrant anise and tarragon aromas followed by a palate offering luscious, fleshy cherries with a fine tannic grip. Appetising minerality kicks in at the end, lingering on the finish.” 02/19
