Vinous Media
90-92 Points, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous: "Reticent aromas of wet stone and smoky reduction. Broad, slightly reduced yellow peach fruit comes across as a bit heavy for Chevalier, perhaps due to the element of leesy reduction. Could use a bit more cut for its size. Finishes a tad blowsy, with a touch of phenolics and moderate real cut. This will require revisiting from bottle." 10/13
Burghound
89-92 Points, Allen Meadows, Burghound: "A pungent nose is dominated by oak toast and reduction and about all that can be said for the underlying fruit is that it appears to be quite ripe. The palate impression of the big-bodied flavors is thick, opulent and powerful as there is an abundance of mouth coating dry extract that is almost too much for the supporting acidity to buffer. This is certainly impressive, indeed even imposing but the usual refinement of a classic Chevalier is missing." 06/14
