It's like a firework show, with great spark and smoke on the nose, with hung game and spices in the background. This is such a thrill to stick your nose in, it's a carnival. Medium-bodied now, it has great length and depth with a lovely freshness and fruitiness on the palate. Strong acid vein keeps things moving, and it still has a good tannic frame, though it's soft in texture now. What most wine lovers would want when opening a Châteauneuf: complexity, power, a great aromatic display, and a huge sense of satisfaction. Faultless." 4/20
