91+ Points, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous: "Bright, dark red A touch of leathery reduction to the aromas of raspberry, rose petal and smoky, truffley earth Currently showing its darker Mazoyères side (which compromises roughly one-third of the blend) in the mouth, along with complex soil tones This firmly built wine finishes with serious spreading tannins and lingering notes of leather and smoke" 11/16

91-93 Points, Allen Meadows, Burghound: "There is just enough reduction present to mask the fruit though it does seem ripe. Otherwise there is excellent freshness and vivacity to the sleek and silky middle weight flavors that are focused and mildly austere on the linear finish. This is going to require a few years of bottle age to flesh out and add depth." 01/16

The 2014 Charmes-Chambertin was also late finishing up its malo, and unlike the Echézeaux, it was not all that happy about being tasted. This wine had not yet absorbed all its new wood and was showing a bit chewy, but all the constituent components are in place for this wine to snap into place with a bit more elevage. The nose is a promising blend of black cherries, cassis, grilled meat, espresso, dark soil tones and spicy new oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, long and rock solid at the core, with fine focus and soil signature, ripe tannins and a long, chewy and adolescent finish...93-94+ John Gilman, View from the Cellar, Issue #60
