Vinous Media

90-92 Points, Neal Martin, Vinous: "The 2017 Chambolle-Musigny Les Hauts Doix 1er Cru comes from 70-year-old vines, including 50% whole bunches, matured in 25% new oak. This has a very floral bouquet, already open and welcoming, with pressed rose petals infusing, almost dictating, the vibrant red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy red fruit. Not a light Chambolle-Musigny per se, yet nimble and light on its toes, with an unprepossessing, detailed, tart finish and a dash of white pepper on the aftertaste. This will probably drink earlier than Groffier's other 2017s but should still offer 15 years of drinking pleasure." 1/19

Wine Spectator

94 Points, Bruce Sanderson , Wine Spectator: "Enticing aromas of ripe cherry, currant, sandalwood, olive and flowers set the pace for this racy red. Complex and full of tension and energy. Mineral, smoke and underbrush notes complete the flavor profile. Shows terrific balance and length. Best from 2022 through 2042. " 05/20

Decanter

94 Points, Tim Atkin, Decanter: "This may not be the most famous Chambolle premier cru from Groffier, but it's a quintessential expression of the village. Very scented and refined, with 25% new wood and 50% whole bunches, it's so approachable that you could almost drink it straight from the barrel. The tannins are supple and velvety, and the texture is very fine."
