Wine Advocate

88-90 Points, Neal Martin, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Chambolle-Musigny Village was cropped at just 9.5 hectoliters per hectare due to frost, and it includes 20% to 30% whole bunch, as well as the declassified droplets of Chambolle Combottes. It initially has a bashful bouquet and gradually opens with pure red cherry and crushed strawberry scents, not delicate but perhaps understated and not wishing to make a fuss. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly coarse tannin on the entry, yet these appear more finessed on the second half whereupon it offers a touch of black pepper. Considering what the vines faced in the growing season, this should be considered a success." 12/17

Vinous Media

89-91 Points, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous: "Bright dark red. Pungent, almost exotic aromas of raspberry and red cherry lifted by flowers. At once dense and juicy, showing darker flavors of blackberry and licorice. This wine has the concentration and body of a premier cru, notes Roumier, "but not the shine." Will rely more on its firm tannic spine than on its acidity for longevity." 01/18

Burghound

89-91 Points, Allen Meadows, Burghound: [Outstanding] "Mild reduction presently pushes what appears to be ripe red berry fruit to the background. Otherwise there is fine detail to the punchy and intensely mineral-inflected medium-bodied flavors that are impressively dense on the mouth coating and lengthy finish. This is perhaps a touch less refined than it usually is but it's notably more concentrated." 01/18
