91-93 Points, Neal Martin, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru, from the under-25 year-old vines "barred" from the Musigny, is a step up from the village cru in terms of depth and fruit intensity, a mixture of raspberry and blackcurrant, fine mineralité and a subtle touch of iodine. The palate is replete with crunchy black fruit, a fine-boned Chambolle with a dash of white pepper fanning out toward the finish. I appreciate the energy and the focus of this wine and it should age with style once in bottle." 12/17
91-93 Points, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous: "Good dark red. Distinctly more relaxed on the nose than the 1er Cru, with aromas of red and darker berries lifted by a floral character and sweetened by a chocolatey nuance. More harmonious and serene on the palate than the foregoing wines, conveying an impression of finesse to its sour cherry and berry flavors; its firm tannins are nicely supported by mid-palate density." 1/18
88-91 Points, Burghound: "This is also ultra-fresh, cool and airy aromas that are composed of notes of dark currant, blueberry, lavender, violet and a wisp of spice. There is once again excellent punch and detail to the wonderfully vibrant medium-bodied flavors that exude evident minerality on the robust and muscular finish that also displays just a hint of tannic dryness. This too will probably round out and my projected range offers the benefit of the doubt." 1/18
93 Points, John Gilman, View From the Cellar: "The Domaine de Comte de Vogüé Premier Cru bottling is excellent in 2016. The wine again shares the beautiful sappy fruit tones of the best wines of the vintage, offering up a superb aromatic constellation of red and black cherries, plums, a touch of lavender, raw cocoa, a marvelous base of soil tones and a fine base of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full and very pure on the attack, with a beautiful core of fruit, outstanding transparency and a long, elegantly structured and focused finish. The complexity here is already quite evident and the tannins are fine-grained and seamless. Superb this year and one of the best young vintages of the young vine Musigny I have tasted from the domaine. (Drink between 2026-2065)" 11/17
