Chambertin Louis Jadot 2011 (1.5L)

The Chambertin at Louis Jadot is purchased fruit, and this is often a touch behind the Clos de Bèze and the Chapelle for that reason and can be just a bit sauvage out of the blocks in some vintages. However, the elegance of 2011 has produced an utterly suave young Chambertin, and this is going to be a stunning wine at its peak of maturity. The young and very refined nose offers up scents of cherries, red plums, nutskin, incipient meatiness, coffee, a gloriously complex base of soil, mustard seed and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very pure on the attack, with a great core of fruit, laser-like focus, ripe, fine-grained tannins and a very, very long, complex and precise finish.
