Neil Martin
91+ Points, Neal Martin, Vinous: "The 2016 Chablis Butteaux 1er Cru is much more closed and broody than its sibling Premier Crus at the moment: earthy, almost mulch-like aromas developing in the glass. The palate is well balanced and quite saline on the entry, hints of blackcurrant developing in the glass with disarming poise and grace towards the finish. Give this Butteaux a couple of years in bottle at least because the aromatics will require time." 05/18

91 Points, Allen Meadows, Burghound: "There is a wisp of exotic fruit to the mineral reduction, quinine and lychee nut aromas. As is usually the case, the broad-shouldered and powerful flavors possess plenty of size, weight and mid-palate density thanks to the abundant level of dry extract that also coats the palate on the overtly powerful if slightly warm finish. This isn't refined, indeed it's borderline rustic but it should amply reward up to a decade of cellaring." 10/18
