The 2012 Certan de May is spherical and intense in the glass, with no hard edges and plenty of up-front fruit. Black cherry, smoke and mocha are all pushed forward in a dark, sensual wine that will drink well early. At times, the 2012 can feel a bit heavy, but it otherwise is very nicely done. This has lovely singed vanilla, black tea and sandalwood aromas mingling together, with subtle plum sauce, steeped cherry and red currant fruit hanging in reserve.
