Zachys
93+ Points, Christopher Deas, Zachys Buying Team: "This is that little Bistro Bordeaux that gets us excited about value and approachability from the epicenter of wine. It is the overachieving, historic 1700s Cru Bourgeois neighbor to Margaux (just 7km from the eponymous First Growth) that is available under $20 from the 97-point vintage and can please today while also age another 5-10 years. While an infant, it is approachable and delicious now, it has a Margaux touch with its silky texture and generosity of soft fruit. In fact, decant this little sleeper two hours and it explodes. Expect to find nuances of black cherry rind, creme de cassis, black licorice, plum, a savory touch with nice acidity to match the concentration of fruit. The tannins are integrated, but chewy and dry on the finish. Pour next to some Super Tuscans and Napa blends - and pound for pound it will please. It's the little Bordeaux that can and simply is one of the best values in Cabernet blends on the planet. We agree with Robert Parker that this is consistently a "best buy" choice."
Antonio Galloni
91 Points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous: "The 2016 Cambon La Pelouse is a wine of real depth, power and flavor. Super-ripe dark cherry, plum, leather, tobacco, cedar and earthy notes are all laced together in this punchy, expressive Haut-Médoc Cru Bourgeois. Once again, Cambon Le Pelouse over delivers. It should drink well for the next decade-plus. Tasted two times." 1/19
James Suckling
92 Points, James Suckling: "Very classic Haut-Médoc with tons of blackcurrants and blackberries. Yet there's rather classic balance with elegant, moderately dry tannins and a long, clean finish. A blend of cabernet sauvignon, merlot and petit verdot. Drink or hold." 2/19
