94 points, Eric Guido, Vinous Media: “The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Ugolforte is a dark beauty, impressing with its youthful poise but also its potential. Mint leaf and a dusting of cedar give way to crushed stone, wild strawberry and hints of flowery undergrowth. There are depths of velvety textures and polished red/black fruits, which create a sense of elegance; yet you can feel that there are layers here which are currently unseen. A complex web of fine tannins and minerals penetrate deeply, just as brisk acids and remnants of tart woodland berries fight to remain prevalent; yet all that remains is a hint of licorice. Wow.” 11/20

James Suckling Notes
95 Points, James Suckling, www.jamesuckling.com: "This is a full-bodied red with ripe blackberry, smoked-meat and burnt-orange notes. Strong tannins with a lots of chewiness. Quite tight on the finish. But there is pureness and beauty to this. More opulent than the 2015. Drink after 2025." 11/20

96+ Points, Luca Gardini, Gardini, Notes: "A Brunello named after a Medieval warlord. A convincing maceration on the
\nskins for this wine whose nose displays undergrowth notes: blackberries, Mediterranean maquis, licorice. In the mouth, iodized tannins, great density, and crunchiness." 10/20
